ADRIAN, Mich. — It was a cold and dreary night in Adrian, but the Albion College women's soccer team had plenty to smile about. In the first round of the MIAA Tournament, the Britons defeated Adrian College, 1-0 on Monday evening.

Senior Emily Brittain provided the lone goal with 13:20 remaining in the contest.

It was Albion's first win over the Bulldogs since October 31, 2016.

With roughly five minutes remaining in the first half, the Bulldogs had a good look at the goal with keeper Romee Natschke down. A fantastic hustle play by Maggie Shrader saved an Adrian goal to preserve the 0-0 tie.

Both teams entered the half tied at zero.

With Albion having chances in the second half, Brittain finally broke the scoreless tie with 13:20 to play. Rayna Edwards's initial shot was saved, but Brittain followed the rebound and buried it into the back of the net.

Adrian had a few chances to find the equalizer late, but Natschke and the back line held tough.

The Britons will travel to No. 1 Calvin University on Wednesday evening.
