ALBION -- In his first game back this season,
Jason Warras immediately made his presence known.
The lone All-MIAA pick from a season ago played the role of hero on Friday night, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime as the Albion College men's soccer team defeated Anderson University, 2-1.
Albion improves to 2-1-1 overall as the Ravens drop to 2-5.
After a scoreless first half, senior
Spencer Moeggenberg put the Britons on the board in the 58th minute. Moeggenberg buried a shot past the Anderson keeper for a 1-0 advantage.
Clinging to a one-goal lead, the Brits could not prevail in regulation. The visitors found the equalizer with just under five minutes on the clock to send the game into overtime.
Just over two minute into the overtime period, Warras scored off a pass from Stefan Isaveski to seal the win for Albion.
The contest was evenly matched in shots, with the hosts holding a slight advantage (14-13).
Freshman goalkeeper
Anton Favre (1-0-1) made three saves in the match, earning his first collegiate victory.
The Brits travel to Rose-Hulman on Sunday afternoon for a match against the Fightin' Engineers. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
