Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Knight to Remember! Men's soccer upsets No. 6 Calvin

The Britons defeated the Knights on the road with a score in the 29th minute

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Anton Favre was nothing short of spectacular.

The "0" on his keeper jersey represented the number of goals allowed, as the Albion College men's soccer team stunned No. 6 Calvin University, 1-0. Calvin had plenty of chances, but the sophomore notched eight saves in goal.

In the 29th minute, Carter Peek played a ball into the box. With a slick grass surface, a Calvin defender went to clear the ball, however it was misdirected into the goal for an own goal. The one misplay would be all the Brits would need to come away with the upset.

The Knights continuously put pressure on the Albion defense, but the talented back line remained tough, headlined by Favre in goal. Calvin outshot the Britons 20-4 in the match.

Albion improves to 7-6-2 overall, 2-2-1 in the MIAA. The Brits handed Calvin their first loss in MIAA play, dropping to 12-2-2 overall, 4-1-0 in league play.

No strangers to wins on Zuidema Field, eight players were on the squad in the spring of 2021 when the No. 8 seeded Britons defeated the No. 1 Knights in the MIAA Tournament.

The Britons will wrap up their home portion of the regular season on Saturday when they welcome Hope for a noon match. Albion will celebrate its three seniors – Micah Cross, Stefan Isaevski and Carter Peek.
