Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Yes he Ly-can! MSOC heads to semis after 2OT win

Grady Lycan scored in the 102nd minute for the victory.

ALBION – After a day full of Albion College athletic wins, Grady Lycan made sure to add men's soccer to that list.

In double overtime, Lycan scored the game-winning goal to lift the No. 4 men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over No. 5 Kalamazoo in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament. With the win, the Britons ensure a winning season – their first since 2006.

Kalamazoo had a few chances in regulation, but could not get anything past reigning MIAA Defensive Player of the Week, Anton Favre. The sophomore goalkeeper notched five saves in the clean sheet.

In the 102nd minute, Alex Carre-Font found himself with some space at the top of the box. Carre-Font played the ball out wide to Lycan on the left side. Lycan launched the shot of a lifetime, as his left-footed strike made its way into the upper right 90.

Down the stretch, Albion remained tough to avoid any good Kalamazoo looks, as a late Hornet chance sailed high.

Albion will head to the MIAA Semifinals, where they will take on the No. 1 seed Calvin University. Kickoff on Tuesday is set for 7 p.m.
