ALBION – Despite peppering the goal and getting plenty of looks, the Albion College men's soccer team came up short in its conference opener, 1-0 to Alma College. Albion outshot the Scots by an 18-5 margin, but could not net the tying goal down the stretch.
In the 12th minute, Alma was awarded a free kick just outside the box from an Albion foul. The shot was a beautiful strike into the back of the net, putting the visitors up, 1-0.
10 of Albion's 18 shots came in the second half, maintaining possession for a majority of the period, but the Brits were unable to net the equalizer.
The Britons' three game win streak comes to an end, as they drop to 5-5-1 overall, 0-1 in the MIAA.
On Saturday, Albion heads to Olivet for a 4 p.m. MIAA match.
