Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Thomas, Garland combine for 40 in loss

ALBION – On Saturday, the Albion College men's basketball team was unable to complete a late comeback, falling at home to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 71-65.

Ken Thomas and Fred Garland scored 20 points apiece, combining to go 19 of 30 from the floor. Thomas also finished with a team-best eight rebounds.

Back and forth throughout the first half, neither team was truly able to gain significant momentum. Garland ignited the Albion crowd with a fast break dunk midway through the first half. Many Briton basketball alums were in attendance, giving plenty of love to the junior guard.

As the seconds expired in the first half, Jonathan Armstead-Wilkerson put the Brits up 34-33 with a corner three. The senior was the only other Albion player to finish in double figures, scoring 11 points.

Roughly midway through the second half, RHIT went on a small run, capitalizing on threes. Albion, who struggles from beyond the arc, made just four threes in the contest. RHIT was 12 of 27 from deep.

Despite a late Albion run, the Britons could not tie or take the lead, dropping to 1-4 overall.

Freshman Beck Williams chipped in with five rebounds off the bench.

The Brits did not have an assist the entire second half, finishing with six overall.

Albion will be idle until Dec. 9-10 when they make a weekend trip to Pennsylvania. The Britons will play games against Penn State-Altoona and La Roche.
