WLAX stumbles in season opener

BEXLEY, Ohio – It was a tough afternoon for the Albion College women's lacrosse team, falling in their 2022 debut, 18-3, to Capital University. 

After the Comets drew first blood, Chrystelle Lopez got the Britons on the board with a free position shot. It didn't take long for the hosts to answer right back, rattling off seven unanswered goals to end the period. At the end of the first quarter, the Comets led, 8-1.

Lopez connected on her second free position shot of the afternoon to start the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 8-2. Once again, Capital responded, taking a 13-2 lead into halftime.

In the third, freshman Kellie Flynn netted her first collegiate goal, coming off a pass from Lopez.

Capital held total control, outshooting the Brits, 43-8.

Senior goalie Alexis Robinson made 18 saves for Albion. 

Albion committed 34 turnovers.

Albion will have a quick turnaround to finish off their Ohio trip with a win, as they will take on another OAC opponent on Sunday. The Britons will travel to Muskingum University for a 12 p.m. start.
