Women's tennis sweeps in season opener

ALBION – In their 2022 spring debut, the Albion College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Manchester University on Saturday morning.

The Brits started the day by picking up two wins off the spot via forfeit at third doubles and sixth singles.

At first doubles, Katie Valade and Breh Ruger won by a dominant 8-2 decision. Saige Jost and Josie Dunn followed it up with an 8-3 win in second doubles, seeing Albion lead 3-0 after doubles.

Jost went on to pick up a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles before Valade followed it up with a 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles. At third singles, Ruger won 6-1, 6-1. Dunn, a freshman, defeated her opponent, 6-2, 6-1 before Reed finished the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at fifth singles.

The Brits will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Spring Arbor. The match will begin at 4 p.m.
