Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's tennis suffers tight setback

ADRIAN, Mich. – On Tuesday, the Albion College men's tennis team dropped a tough 5-4 decision to Adrian College. After going 1-2 in doubles play, the Britons could not prevail in singles action. 

At first doubles, Brett Gurzell and Drake Malcolm continued to shine, picking up a gritty 8-7 (7-4) win. Patrick Smoker and Danny McGarry fell in a tight 8-6 match at second doubles. 

In a tiebreaker, McGarry earned a win in second singles. The senior defeated his opponent 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 to pick up the first singles win of the day for the Brits. Smoker then went on to defeat his opponent at fifth singles, winning 6-1, 7-5. Rounding out singles play was senior Cecil Burkhart, who claimed a 6-2, 6-4 victory. 

Albion will travel to Olivet on Saturday for a noon match.
