Game Recap: Softball |

Softball celebrates seniors on Sunday

ALBION – The Albion College softball team wrapped up its 2022 home slate, falling twice to MIAA power, Alma College. The Scots took game one, 4-1, before exploding for a 9-0 win in the nightcap. 

In a game that featured the top two strikeout pitchers in the league, Ashley Pion and Alma's Haley Ullrich went toe to toe. Both pitchers finished with 10 strikeouts. 

Albion did not have a baserunner until the fifth when Lizzie Bissett drew a walk. Freshman Parker Douglass broke up the no-hitter in the sixth with a leadoff single to right. She was lifted for pinch runner Olivia Polak, who later scored on a base hit from Jacqueline Jozefczyk – Albion's lone run of the day. 

In game two, Alma scored eight in the first to hold total control from the start.

Prior to the game, Albion honored its three seniors – Polak, Kacy Rossi and Morgan Deckrow. 

On Wednesday, the Britons will travel to Hope for a twinbill. Game times begin at 3 and 5 p.m.
