ALBION – Effective May 31, Nick Stone is stepping down as the head swimming and diving coach at Albion to pursue other professional opportunities.

Throughout four years at Albion, Stone has guided the Briton men's squad to two MIAA Championships, while mentoring a large number of All-MIAA and All-American athletes. His women's teams have finished third in all four MIAA Championship meets during his tenure.

"My time at Albion was a special one, and stepping down was the hardest decision to make," said Stone. "This group of swimmers and divers are the definition of a family and I have been honored to work with them over the last four years."

During his four seasons at the helm of the Briton swim and dive programs, 30 athletes have earned All-MIAA status. He has also coached 14 NCAA All-Americans, including four this past season.

"I'm excited for the future of the Britons and am looking forward to seeing their continued success in the pool and on the boards."

Most recently, he saw five female swimmers qualify for the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis this past March. This season, he had 10 land on All-MIAA Teams and broke a number of school and conference records.

"On behalf of Albion College, I would like to thank Coach Stone for his dedication to our male and female swimming & diving student athletes.  I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors," said Matt Arend, director of athletics.

"A national search for his replacement is currently underway.  We intend to have the hiring of our new head coach by August 1, 2022.," added Arend.

The search for Stone's replacement is currently underway.
