Barden's career day not enough for men's hoops

ADRIAN, Mich. – Down to the wire, the Albion College men's basketball team was unable to prevail, dropping a 73-68 contest to Adrian College. Albion had chances late, but could not make free throws in the end. 

The Britons were led by a career day from AJ Barden. The junior recorded his first double-double, scoring 18 points and hauling in 14 rebounds. Fred Garland remained a consistent part of the offense, scoring 14 points and adding four assists. 

It was a dogfight from start to finish, as Albion led by six points at the half. But the resilient Bulldogs outscored the visitors by 11 points in the second half to pull off the victory. 

Albion shot over 48 percent from the floor and brought down more rebounds than Adrian, but in the end the Bulldogs came away victorious. 

The Brits return home on Wednesday for an 8 p.m. game against Alma.
