MSOC begins conference play 'on the Hunt'

Karl Hunt netted two goals in Tuesday's win.

ALMA, Mich. – Another two goal game from Karl Hunt helped the Albion College men's soccer team start off conference play with a 4-1 win over Alma College. The sophomore, Hunt, has scored a pair of goals in each of Albion's last two games.

Hunt's first goal of the afternoon came in the 13th minute. A throw-in was played quickly to Brayden Stavros, who recorded an assist in his first game back. Fresh off the IL, the junior played a ball into the box where a diving Hunt snuck it past the Alma goalkeeper for an early lead.

Less than two minutes later, the Brits capitalized on a corner. Freshman Jasek Zielaskowski's left footed cross found the head of Hunt to push the visitors ahead 2-0. Along with Hunt contributing offensively as of late, the assist was Zielaskowski's second in as many games.

Brett Swaton's league-leading eighth goal of the season came in the 25th minute. A clear from the Scots fell right into the feet of Swaton, who rifled a deep shot for the score and a 3-1 lead at the half.

Quinn Dundas put the icing on the win, scoring with just over a minute to play. The unassisted goal was his second of the year.

Alma's lone goal came in the first half, but Albion – holding a 2-1 edge at the time – remained poised to keep the Scots off the scoreboard for the rest of the match.

In goal, Dario Vujic earned the win while tallying six saves.

The Scots held the advantage in shots (17-12) and corners (8-3).

Albion improves to 6-3-0, 1-0-0 as the Scots fall to a 3-6-2, 0-1-0 record.

On Saturday, the Britons will host The University of Olivet for a noon kickoff.
