Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lucky 7! Women's soccer rolls past Olivet

Abby Rose recorded a goal and two assists in the win.

ALBION — Desperate to find the back of the net after five scoreless ties this season, the goals came in bunches as the Albion College women's soccer team handily defeated The University of Olivet, 7-0. In the win, eight Britons recorded points, led by Abby Rose's one goal, two assist evening.

Dominant from the jump, Avery Campbell netted Albion's first goal in the 13th minute. The speedy senior beat the Olivet defense for a clear shot at the net. In the 33rd minute, Avery Kasanic found her first goal of the season – a strong shot into the upper right corner – off a pass from Campbell to push the hosts ahead, 2-0.

Albion's final goal of the first half came from Olivia Buchweitz. The sophomore's shot ricocheted off the Olivet keeper and the post before finally trickling into the goal, giving Albion a 3-0 cushion at the break.

Awarded a corner, Rose continued her stretch of masterful passes into the box. The cross found Quinn Natschke for her third goal of the season, and Albions fourth of the contest. Less than two minutes later, Ella Jeske played a ball in to Ryann Locke, who capitalized by slotting past the Comet keeper for a 5-0 lead.

Once again, an Albion set piece ended with Rose and Natschke's names in the box score, as they each picked up their second goal and assist of the evening. All four of Natschke's goals this year have come off set pieces.

In the waning minutes, Rose tallied her first goal of the season with a ball from the far right side for the seventh goal of the night. Mia Crawford recorded the assist on Rose's goal.

Romee Natschke earned the win in goal, while Mattie Stanton played the final 40 minutes, preserving the shutout. Combined, the duo made two saves.

The Britons improve to 4-1-5, 1-0-1 in MIAA action. The seven goals are the most for Albion since a 7-0 win over Saint Mary's (10/28/17)

Albion heads to Alma Saturday for a 12 p.m. start time.
