ALBION – So close.
In a back and forth battle, a buzzer beater hit off the backboard and front iron before rimming out in the Albion College men's basketball team's 67-66 loss to Manchester University.
Sophomore
Nathan Steinman recorded a career-best 16 points, including 3-4 from three in the loss.
AJ Barden was the only other Albion player to finish in double figures, scoring all 11 of his points in the second half.
Albion broke out to an early lead, but the sharp-shooting Spartans continued to put up 3-pointers as they began to fall. By halftime, the visitors gained a 30-28 advantage over the Britons.
As the second half continued, the Spartans were able to knock down big shots, as the Brits found themselves in foul trouble at times. Manchester's bench also outscored Albion by 10 (28-18).
The Spartans were fouled with seven seconds on the clock, and could not sink either free throw, opening the door for Albion. A last second layup did not roll in favor of the hosts, sending the Spartans home with a win.
Jaylen Flaniken led the Brits with seven total rebounds.
Zak Krueger dished out five assists while Barden added four.
Albion will be idle until Nov. 29 when they head to Rose-Hulman for a 7 p.m. tip in Terre Haute.
