Women's tennis picks up win in spring debut

Savannah McDonald and Josie Dunn each recorded two wins.

ALBION – The Albion College women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 win in its season opener over St. Francis (Ind.). Sporting an incredible young lineup, the Brits received contributions up and down the lineup.

At second doubles, Josie Dunn and Savannah McDonald gritted out an 8-6 win. After a Cougar forfeit at third doubles, the hosts led 2-1 after doubles play.

Heading into singles, Dunn – a sophomore – had a tremendous comeback to pick up a victory at second singles. After dropping the first set 6-2, Dunn won the next two 6-2 and 10-7.

Senior Jesse Hepner earned a win at third singles, 6-0, 6-3. At fourth singles, Alura Reed won by a 6-1, 6-4 margin. Rounding out singles action was McDonald who won by a 6-1, 6-2 mark.

Albion will host Olivet College for a non-conference match on Thursday. The match commences at 6:30 p.m.
