Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

WLAX rolls past Madonna in home opener

Olivia Dameron recorded five points to lead the Britons.

ALBION – Breaking out to a 7-0 advantage, the Albion College women's lacrosse team knocked off Madonna University, 13-3, on Saturday afternoon. Early in the season, the Britons improve to 2-0 overall.

Scoring the first seven goals of the game, the hosts led 7-0 at halftime – proving to be more than enough offense. Four minutes in, freshman Logan Hutchinson recorded her first collegiate goal to break the scoreless tie. Two minutes later, senior Addie Pastor increased the Albion lead to two goals.

Late in the first quarter, Albion received a man-down goal from Amelia Stevenson, the sophomore's third goal of the season. In the final minute, classmate Aaliyah Eudabe connected on a free position goal to give the Brits a 4-0 lead after one.

Two minutes into the second quarter, Eudabe placed a perfect pass to Kellie Flynn to put the Britons up by five. Albion received its final two goals of the half from Stevenson and Olivia Dameron to hold a seven goal lead at the half.

The Crusaders scored twice early in the third before the hosts responded with a 4-0 run. A pair of goals by Dameron were accompanied with strikes from Flynn and freshman Kristen Stark

Leading 11-3 after three, Albion got its next goal from Pastor – her 15th of the year. The running clock came into play when Ellen Chown scored an unassisted goal with 8:40 on the clock.

Dameron led Albion with three goals and two assists, picking up five ground balls and causing a pair of turnovers. Sophomore Kyndall Lewis led all players, causing three turnovers.

Freshman Nicole Miller (2-0) earned the win in goal, making four saves throughout three periods of action.

Albion outshot the visitors, 32-10 in the win. The Britons converted 18 of 20 clears, as the Crusaders struggled, going 8 for 22.

On Monday, the Brits will head to Kenyon College for a midday contest. First draw is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
