Struggles continue for men's basketball

ALBION – A sharp-shooting Kalamazoo College was the achilles heel for the Albion College men's basketball team, dropping an 86-77 contest to the Hornets. Kalamazoo shot just over 44 percent from beyond the arc, leading to a strong second half by the visitors. 

Four Britons finished in double figures, led by a 20 point afternoon from Ken Thomas. Junior Fred Garland added 16 points, while AJ Barden scored 14 points on a perfect 7 of 7 performance from the floor. Freshman Beck Willems was terrific off the bench, scoring 11 points in the loss. 

It was a back and forth contest throughout the first half, as the Britons took a slim 37-36 lead into the break. Kalamazoo would go on to outscore the hosts by 10 in the new half to come away with the road victory. 

Garland dished out seven assists in the loss. Barden led the Brits with nine rebounds. 

Albion hosts Adrian College on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
