Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

WLAX comes up short on Senior Day

ALBION – On Senior Day, the Albion College women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-9 heartbreaker to Alma College in its MIAA debut. Prior to the game, the Britons honored the first seniors on the roster – Olivia Dameron, Kym Strozier-Ball, Addie Pastor, Audrey DeWaters and Angelina Mendieta

Pastor led Albion with a hat trick on the day. She now has 50 goals on the season thus far.

In a very low-scoring affair, the Scots held a 2-0 lead after the first quarter. Freshman Logan Hutchinson got the Brits on the board with a goal less than a minute into the second period. Alma immediately answered, regaining a two goal lead.

Goals by Dameron and Mendieta eventually knotted the game at three, but by the end of the half, it was the Scots that were leading 5-4.

After Alma extended the advantage to 7-4, the Britons worked their way back to cut the deficit to one goal heading into the final quarter. Both of the Briton goals came from Pastor, sending the momentum back to the hosts.

One minute into the fourth, sophomore Kyndall Lewis tied the contest at seven on a free position goal. Despite Albion eventually taking a 9-8 lead, the Scots scored three unanswered over the final five minutes to steal a 10-9 win.

DeWaters picked up a team-high five ground balls in the contest.

Albion heads to St. Mary's on Tuesday to continue MIAA action. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
