MBB falls at Alma

ALMA, Mich. – For the second time this season, the Albion College men's basketball team dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Alma College. On Saturday, the Brits fell by a 68-65 margin. 

In just his second varsity appearance, freshman Dwayne Ray led the Brits with 14 points, going 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Jaylen Flaniken was a rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 11 points and bringing down nine boards. 

Both AJ Barden and Kurtis Rhodes finished with 10 points. Barden recorded a double-double by bringing in a game-high 13 rebounds. 

It was a nail-biter the whole way through, as the Britons held a slim 34-31 advantage at halftime. With no team leading by a sizeable margin at any point of the game, the Scots were able to tie the game up in the second half. 

At the buzzer of regulation, the Britons got a decent look at the game-winner, but the shot rattled out to force overtime. There, Alma would gain a six point advantage with 1:25 on the clock to seal the win. 

Led by Rhodes and Ray, Albion got 37 points from its bench. 

Albion hosts Kalamazoo on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
