Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer wins on Senior Night

ALBION – Picking up a much-needed three points, the Albion College women's soccer team defeated Saint Mary's College, 2-0 on Senior Night. Prior to the contest, the Brits honored their six seniors – Alex Hays, Ella Jeske, Abby Tripoli, Mia Crawford, Anna Said and Avery Kasanic

Albion's playoff hopes improve drastically, moving to 2-3-1 in the conference with a pair of games remaining.

The Britons took a 1-0 lead into halftime thanks to an own goal by the Belles. Off a corner, three different SMC players touched the ball, rattling around before finding the back of the net.

With 12 minutes left in regulation and the Britons clinging to a 1-0 lead, Saint Mary's had two great opportunities to find the equalizer. A free kick outside the box was shot on goal, with a beautiful save by Micaela Hohlbein. The rebound eventually found another SMC player, who shot it right to Hohlbein, preserving the clean sheet.

In the 86th minute, the Britons put the exclamation point on their Senior Night win, as Kelsi Green's second goal of the season inflated the lead. Green rifled home a shot after a swift move on a Saint Mary's defender, coming off a ball from Mia Czarnowski

The Belles outshot the Britons, but Hohlbein recorded seven saves in net.

Albion heads to Adrian on Saturday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. A season ago, the Brits eliminated the Bulldogs on their home turf in the first round of the MIAA Tournament.
