Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Stavros, Swaton lead men's soccer over Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. – A gritty performance by the Albion College men's soccer team lifted the Britons to a 2-1 win over The University of Olivet. The win secures Albion's spot in the MIAA Tournament, and keeps their hopes alive of hosting a first round game.

Just over three minutes into the match, Brett Swaton's second goal of the season helped the visitors get on the board first. The 1-0 lead would hold into the half, as the Brits kept pressuring the Olivet defense.

In the 77th minute, Khalil Camara worked to earn a penalty kick. Brayden Stavros stepped up to take the PK, burying it past the Comet keeper for a 2-0 advantage late in the game. Just a few moments later, Olivet was awarded a PK and capitalized, cutting Albion's lead in half.

Led by Riley Folk and Binck-Jan Bakker, the Briton back line held tough to earn the conference victory. Freshman goalkeeper Tom Veresh was solid in goal, making six saves.

The Brits host Kalamazoo on Tuesday for Senior Night. Prior to the 7 p.m. game, Albion will celebrate its senior class.
