Men's soccer claims 4-seed for MIAA Tournament

ALBION – Salvaging a point on Senior Night, the Albion College men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Kalamazoo College. Prior to the match, the Britons honored its senior class of Riley Folk, Brayden Stavros, Mau Tavera, Nick Miller, Ezekiel Johnson and Brett Swaton

Scoreless through the first half, Stavros played a beautiful ball ahead to Miller for a 1-0 lead. The score would hold until sophomore Drew Barker netted his first goal of the season, beating the Kalamazoo keeper on a breakaway. With 15 minutes remaining, Albion held a 2-0 lead.

The Hornets cut the deficit in half on a corner kick goal in the 85th minute. Kalamazoo found the equalizer in the waning seconds on an unbelievable goal.

Tom Veresh made five saves in goal for the Britons.

With the point and help from other MIAA teams, Albion has clinched the No. 4 seed in the upcoming MIAA Tournament and will host a Quarterfinal game on Saturday. A time and opponent is currently TBD.
