Britons blow by Bulldogs in MIAA Tournament

ALBION – See you in the Semifinals.

A beautiful performance by the Albion College men's soccer team on their home turf lifted the No. 4 seed Britons to a 2-0 win over the No. 5 seed Adrian College. Albion scored once in each half, securing their spot into the next round.

In the 27th minute, sophomore Jasek Zielaskowski netted his third goal of the season. A ball played into the box by Brayden Stavros was headed past the Bulldog keeper by Zielaskowski, giving the Britons a 1-0 lead.

Needing an insurance goal, captain Nick Miller provided just that with a gorgeous strike in the 72nd minute. Miller's second goal in as many games was pummeled into the upper right of the goal, thanks to a feed across the box from Pablo Caturla Rubio

The teams were fairly matched in shots, corners and fouls. Freshman goalkeeper Tom Veresh was outstanding in net. In addition to his three saves, Veresh limited Adrian's chances by securing crosses as well.

Albion heads to No. 1 seed Trine on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest.
