Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Irwin's game-winner helps women's soccer clinch playoff spot

ALMA, Mich. – They're in.

Bolstered by a second-half comeback, the Albion College women's soccer team clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament with a 2-1 win over Alma College. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Britons utilized goals from a pair of freshmen to end the regular season with a win.

Hailee Campbell netted her first collegiate goal in the 60th minute, Ella Jeske played a long ball up ahead to Campbell. Campbell eventually beat the Alma goalkeeper, knotting the game with 30 minutes remaining.

The Britons kept pressuring the Alma defense before finding the back of the net once more. Off a corner, a ball that rattled around in the box was found by Ceci Irwin, scoring her fourth goal of the season to put the visitors on top.

Outshooting the Scots 13-2 in the second half, Albion finished the game with the edge, 18-14. Micaela Hohlbein recorded seven saves in the victory.

Albion will play Saturday in the first round of the MIAA Tournament on the road. A location, time and opponent is still to be determined from Wednesday's games. An official announcement will be made Thursday.
