Young lineup lifts MBB over Adrian

Box Score ALBION – Backed by incredible performances from a pair of sophomores, the Albion College men's basketball team defeated Adrian College 87-73. Kam Mayes led the Britons with 19 points, as Nate Childers dropped 18 – draining five 3-pointers.

From the jump, Albion was poised to avenge a loss from early January to the Bulldogs. Relying on their youth, Childers and Mayes were two of four double-digit scorers for the Brits. AJ Barden led all players with 16 rebounds, 15 coming on the defensive glass.

Freshman Ethan Woolery, in his first game with extended minutes, scored 10 points off the bench. Dwayne Ray was the other Briton to score in double-figures, scoring 11 points in the win.

By halftime, the Britons had built a 41-33 advantage, thanks to a couple big 3-pointers from Childers.

In addition to his 19 points, Mayes grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists.

The Britons maintained momentum for the second half, as Adrian was unable to cut into the deficit.

On Wednesday, the Brits head to nationally ranked Calvin for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
