Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's hoops falls in MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals

HOLLAND, Mich. – In the first round of the MIAA Tournament, the No. 6 seeded Albion College men's basketball team fell 76-66 to the No. 3 seed, Hope College. The Britons hung tough with the hosts for the first half before the Flying Dutch ran away with the contest.

Leading the way for Albion was sophomore Kam Mayes with 18 points. Mayes shot an efficient 6 of 8 from the floor, 3 for 3 from beyond the arc. AJ Barden finished a rebound away from a double-double, securing nine boards and adding 14 points.

Despite the Brits making a late attempt to close the gap, Hope had built too large of a lead – up by as many as 18 points – in the second half. Albion cut the deficit to four points with 3:34 to play thanks to a stepback three from Mayes, but Hope answered with back to back triples to regain a double digit advantage.

Between the two teams, there were 49 fouls called, including four technicals. In the game, 69 free throws were shot, combined between Hope and Albion.

The Britons end the 2023-24 season with a record of 10-16.
