Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball swept by Alma

Three one-run ball games hurt the Albion College baseball team, as the squad was swept by Alma College. On Saturday, Albion fell 1-0 and 13-12 before an 8-7 decision went the way of the Scots on Sunday.

GAME ONE: Alma 1 Albion 0 (10 innings)

With two of the best pitchers in the league squaring off in game one, neither left with a decision as the Scots won game on in extra innings.

Sophomore Cole Giesige earned a no decision, tossing six shutout innings. He struck out 10 and allowed just three hits.

GAME TWO: Alma 13 Albion 12 (7 innings)

Saturday ended with a second walkoff victory for the Scots, breaking the hearts of the Britons. Sophomore Evan Schuster led Albion going 4 for 5 in the game, while Mark Lauro and Braeden Emery each tallied three hits.

Kris Stojanovski cranked his eighth home run of the season, tying him for second in the MIAA. The offense came in bunches for the Britons, cranking out 19 hits in the nightcap, but eventually giving up four in the bottom of the seventh.

GAME THREE: Alma 8 Albion 7

Albion rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth, but left the bases loaded as they could not find the go-ahead run. In the loss, Lauro smacked his fifth home run of the season, totaling two hits and three RBI.

As a team, Albion struck out nine times and left 10 runners on base. Logan Farmer and Carson Dunn did damage at the bottom of the order, each finishing 2 for 3 on the afternoon.

The Britons will head to Olivet on Tuesday to wrap up the series with the Comets. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
