No. 24 Calvin knocks off softball

ALBION – Taking on the No. 24 team in the nation, the Albion College softball team was swept by Calvin University. In game one, the Knights used a 6-run first to win 10-1 before knocking off the Brits 3-0 in game two. 

Calvin led 6-0 after one and took advantage of five Albion errors on the day. Albion's lone run came in the bottom of the third when Jacqueline Jozefczyk led off the inning with a double to left and moved to third on a sac bunt. Junior Kearney Miller lifted a sac fly to center, driving in Jozefczyk.

Only four of the 10 Calvin runs were earned in game one. Freshman Kiersten Wilkin had two doubles in the loss.

In game two, Calvin shutout the Britons, as the Knights put National Pitcher of the Week, Brooke Hunderman, in the circle. She struck out 11 Albion hitters and limited the Britons to just four hits. 

Miller had two of Albion's four hits in the loss.

Albion hosts Adrian on Saturday for a twinbill, beginning at 1 and 3 p.m.
