Thunder tops tennis teams

ANGOLA, Ind. – Back on the courts after a 10-day hiatus, the Albion College tennis teams dropped matches to Trine University. The women's team fell by a 7-2 margin, while the men suffered a 9-0 setback.

In the women's match, Albion got a win at second doubles from Keiley Black and Savannah McDonald. The senior tandem won by an 8-3 margin.

In singles action, freshman Abbie Hubbard was the lone Albion victor, winning with scores of 6-3, 6-2.

The Thunder took all three doubles matches on the men's side, but the first and second doubles teams for the Britons battled, each falling 8-5. The first duo was made up of Josh Doyle and Jacob Doyle, as Drake Malcolm and Brendan Morrison competed at second doubles.

Freshman Peyton Bell put together a great match at fourth singles, dropping in a tiebreaker (6-4, 4-6, 11-9).

Both teams will head to Olivet this weekend. The women's match will take place Friday at 4 p.m. while the men's match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. Saturday start.
