FB trounces Bluffton behind dominant offensive performance

ALBION – In front of its 1994 National Championship team, the Albion College football team put together an electric performance, defeating Bluffton University 56-21. The Britons pounded out 579 yards of total offense, as 12 different players caught passes. The 56 points is the most in a game since a Week Three win over Eureka back in 2019.

Luke Lovell – the reigning MIAA Offensive Player of the Week – was efficient and impactful. The senior was 12 of 13 for 247 yards and two TDs. Fellow senior Zander Desentz had a career day under center, going 11 for 11 with 137 yards and a touchdown.

Aiden Adams (5 rec, 108 yards, TD) and Tayshaun Nichols (4 car, 69 yards, 2 TD) also put together career days offensively. Senior Joe Czarnecki led the Brits on defense, recording a career-best six tackles – all solo.

Orlando Daniels had three TFL accounting for 19 yards, highlighted by a pair of sacks. Logan Grwinski was perfect on PATs, converting all eight attempts in the afternoon.

The Britons held a steady 21-0 lead after one quarter, thanks to both of Nichols' touchdowns. Albion's first score was a beautiful 15-yard pass from Lovell to Devin Fridley-Bell. Nichols added the other two touchdowns in the period, a 12-yard rush and a 40-yard rush. On their first drive of the second quarter, the hosts used a 1-yard rush up the gut from Colby Taylor-Browning on a 4th and 1 to extend the advantage. The 28-0 mark would hold heading into halftime.

On just the second play of the second half, Lovell found Adams for a 50-yard score. Just five minutes later, the Brits inflated their lead with a 44-yard touchdown from Desentz to Dorian Armstrong. Albion's final two touchdowns came in the third quarter – a Nevin Dent rush and a beautiful deep ball from Ali Murray to freshman Ethan Barker

Of Albion's 579 yards, 404 came in the air. The Britons averaged nine yards per play in the win and were a perfect 5 of 5 in red zone opportunities. Defensively, Albion held Bluffton to converting just 5 of 14 opportunities.

Through two games, Lovell's 604 passing yards and Adams' 204 receiving yards lead the MIAA.

Next Saturday, the Brits hit the road for their first away game of the season. Albion heads to Mt. St. Joseph for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
