Britons Bitten by Bulldogs in First MIAA Road Test

ADRIAN, Mich. – Coming off a roller coaster loss to Trine last game, the Albion football team was looking to get back on track against Adrian in their first MIAA road test of the season.

Unfortunately for the Britons, they fell to the host Bulldogs, 28-7, at Docking Stadium.

After both teams punted to open the game on a sunny early October day, Adrian capitalized on an eight-play, 57-yard drive with a six-yard rushing touchdown from Trey Brueggemann to take the opening advantage with less than six minutes left in the first.

Albion a chance to score on their ensuing possession, but an Ali Murray pass to Cameron Moore on fourth down from the Bulldogs' three-yard line ended the threat.

Two drives later, Adrian found paydirt again as Brueggemann scored from five yards out to put the home team in front, 14-0, with 3:33 left in the first half.

Murray threw an interception on the next drive, but on Adrian's first play Dewayne Williams strip-sacked Adrian's Noah Beaudrie, which was scooped up by Alex Olenik and returned to the one-yard line.

The Britons capitalized on the following play with an Alex Trudell rush to pull within a possession, 14-7, with 51 seconds left in the half where the score would remain at the break.

Three punts opened the third quarter, but Adrian broke through on a Beaudrie 69-yard scoring run for a 21-7 advantage with 4:37 left in the period.

A 14-play drive on the Britons' ensuing possession resulted in a 39-yard field goal attempt that bounced off the right upright for Logan Grwinski.

The Bulldogs put the stamp on the game by grinding out a 13-play, 79-yard drive that culminated with a two-yard rushing touchdown from Brueggemann to take 8:41 off the clock in the fourth.

Adrian bottled up Albion's rushing attack, as the Britons only gained 18 yards on the ground compared to the Bulldogs' 206. They also had nearly 37 minutes of possession time, while Albion had just over 23 minutes.

Adam Mills led the defense with 12 stops, while Williams registered two sacks.
