Britons Suffer Loss to Illinois Tech

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Poor shooting and missed opportunities led to a 73-64 defeat for the Albion men's basketball team to Illinois Tech.

Three minutes in, the Britons had a 6-0 lead but then the Scarlet Hawks notched the next seven to take their first advantage of the game with 13:23 left in the first half.

Albion maintained an advantage until 3:05 left in the stanza. From there, Illinois Tech went on an 8-4 run to close the half up 30-26.

The Britons finally got the lead back, 43-41, with just under 12 and a half minutes remaining in the game. However, the Scarlet Hawks capitalized on a three pointer on the ensuing possession and never looked back.

A Malachi Hooser layup with 3:10 left made it a four-point contest, 62-58, but that was as close as it got for the Britons the rest of the way with Illinois Tech ending the game on a 11-6 run.

Kam Mayes recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Mason Brodi and Kurtis Rhodes each chipped in 10 points.

The Britons shot 35.4% from the field, including 20.7% from beyond the arc, while Illinois Tech made more than half their field goals and 40% of their threes.
