WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Albion men's basketball team ended the 2025 calendar year on a high note as they defeated Allegheny, 66-60, at the Otterbein Classic.
Kam Mayes's 21-point, 11-rebound, five-assist effort helped earn him All-Tournament honors as well.
The Britons found themselves down the majority of the first half until a
Dwayne Ray layup with 2:12 left in the stanza led to their first lead, 25-23.
They held their lead, 29-26, at the half on a Mayes buzzer beater layup.
Albion came out storming in the second half, propelled by a 10-0 run to open the period and take a 13-point advantage.
However, the Gators came back and knotted the game twice with less than 11 minutes remaining before taking a one-point lead with 9:15 left.
Despite Allegheny making it 51-51 with 6:31 remaining, it was all Britons from there as they used an 8-3 run to close out the game.
Ray chipped in 12 points, while
Truman King registered six steals.
