Brodi, MBB hang tough with No. 11 Trine

ALBION – Erasing an 18 point deficit and going down to the wire, the Albion College men's basketball team narrowly fell in a 72-69 loss to No. 11 Trine University. The contest featured 51 fouls and the two teams combined to shoot 74 free throws. 

Freshman Mason Brodi was an electric spark off the bench for the Brits, being the team's leading scorer and finishing with a career-high 15 points. Marco Lucchesi added 12 points as Kurtis Rhodes and Jaylen Flaniken each added 10. 

Trine went on a run late in the first half to take a 35-24 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Thunder's momentum continued, leading by as many as 18 points with just over 15 minutes to play. 

Led by Brodi and BJ Hunter, the Britons slowly chipped away at the Trine lead, cutting it to one point with 4:48 to play. Despite good looks down the stretch, Albion could not hit the go-ahead bucket. 

Albion will play Adrian on Saturday on the road for a 3 p.m. start.
