Softball commences 2025 season

RICHMOND, Ind. – Two tough losses cost the Albion College softball team an opening day win, getting swept by Earlham College. The Britons lost on a walkoff, 6-5 in game one before an 8-1 loss in game two. 

In game one, Albion put up a three spot in the fourth inning. With two away, Jessie Anstandig doubled to drive home Emma Schramm for the team's first run. Kiersten Wilkin followed with an RBI single up the middle before a Dylan Cardinale double ended the scoring. 

The Britons tacked on one in the fifth, thanks to a RBI from Megan Maiuri, and one more in the seventh on a bases loaded walk. The Quakers, trailing 5-3 in the seventh, put together a rally to walkoff the Brits, 6-5. 

In game two, the story was all Earlham. Albion's run was driven in by senior Kearney Miller. 

Tomorrow, Albion plays a doubleheader at Ferrum beginning at 12 p.m.
