WLAX tripped up in home opener

ALBION – Taking on an undefeated John Carroll team, the Albion College women's lacrosse team fell 20-9 in its home opener. The Britons trailed 10-6 at the half before the Blue Streaks went on a second half run.

Three Albion players finished with three points. Junior Logan Hutchinson tallied a hat trick while seniors Kyndall Lewis and Aaliyah Eudabe recorded two goals and an assist each.

The Blue Streaks held a 5-2 lead at the end of the first period, but the Britons hung with a talented John Carroll squad in the second quarter. Albion scored four times in the second, with both of Lewis's goals, one from Hutchinson and another by Ellen Chown

In the new half, the visitors rallied to extend their lead and keep Albion at a distance.

Defensively, Natalie Sweetland caused a career-best five turnovers for the Brits. Nicole Miller finished with 11 saves in goal.

While JCU was very effective on the clear (12 of 13), the Brits struggled, converting just 14 of 24 clears. JCU controlled 22 draws compared to 11 by Albion.

On Wednesday, Albion hosts Ohio Northern for a 7:30 p.m. game.
