Game Recap: Baseball |

Four homer in split at Franklin

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After slugging 16 hits in game one, the Albion College baseball bats were silenced in game two as the Britons split with Franklin College. The Britons held on for a 17-15 victory in the first game before dropping a 7-1 decision in game two.

GAME ONE: Albion 17 Franklin 15

Ryker Mazey was 4 for 7 with four RBI and Braeden Emery drove in five with a pair of homers in game one. Albion's biggest inning came in the top of the sixth when the visitors put up an 8-spot, aided by two Grizzly errors. In that frame, Emery cranked a 3-run home run and Mazey smacked a bases clearing double for the big blows.

In the bottom of the ninth, Franklin put together a massive rally to push across seven runs. The Britons eventually slammed the door with a popout to right field.

Joining Emery, Carson Dunn, Kris Stojanovski and Mazey all hammered home runs in the game.

Junior Cole Giesige (3-0) allowed just one hit and three runs in five innings of work. Giesige struck out six in his outing.

GAME TWO: Franklin 7 Albion 2

The Britons were unable to keep the offensive momentum rolling into the nightcap, being held to just two runs and four hits. The Grizzlies used a five run seventh to break the game open.

Freshman Drew Ribble scored both of Albion's runs in game two. In the second, Emery lifted a sac fly to drive in Ribble before a wild pitch allowed him to cross in the top of the ninth.

Albion heads to Kenyon College on Saturday for a twinbill against the Owls. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
