Giesige's one-hitter helps baseball split

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A pair of one-hitters stole the show as the Albion College baseball team split with John Carroll University. Cole Giesige was masterful in game one, striking out nine hitters in a complete game shutout.

Albion defeated John Carroll 1-0 in game one before dropping a 9-0 decision in game two. 

With Giesige being the highlight of game one, Albion's lone run was an unearned run in the second inning. Kris Stojanovski walked and stole second. Evan Schuster reached on a fielding error, but heads up baserunning and a beautiful slide by Stojanovski gave the Britons and Giesige all they'd need. 

No runner advanced further than first base off Giesige, who walked only one and allowed just one hit.

In the second game, JCU flipped the script on Albion, holding the Briton bats at bay. 

On Saturday, Albion completes its Florida trip with a 9 a.m. first pitch against Dominican.
