Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

WLAX rolls to MIAA victory

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Coming off a long hiatus, the Albion College women's lacrosse team rolled in its MIAA opener, defeating Saint Mary's College 13-4. With a two goal, two assist effort, Kyndall Lewis reached the 100 career point milestone.

Freshman Anna Huard led all players, scoring four goals and dishing out an assist as Ellen Chown recorded a hat trick.

The two teams battled through one period, with the Britons holding a slim 3-2 lead. Two goals from Huard and one from Ellen Chown marked the first period scoring. In the second, Albion outscored the hosts 4-1. Lewis scored twice and added an assist in the second quarter alone, giving the Brits a 7-3 advantage at halftime.

Huard and Kellie Flynn netted the only two goals in the third, but it gave Albion a 9-3 lead heading into the final 15 minutes. In the fourth, the Britons continued to keep the momentum to earn their first conference win.

In goal, Nicole Miller made nine saves and picked up three ground balls. Plenty of Brits set new career-highs in ground balls, including Aaliyah Eudabe (14), Julia Ames (11) and Hayla-Lyn Gilly (7). Ames controlled seven draws as well.

The Britons were efficient on the clear (16 of 19) and free position shots (2 of 3).

On Saturday, the Brits head to Trine to continue MIAA play. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
