Men's lacrosse rolls past Alma

ALBION – From start to finish, the Albion College men's lacrosse team dominated Alma College, winning the MIAA contest 28-2. Albion put up 20 goals in the first half, putting on a show in front of its 2015 MIAA Championship team. 

Senior Brendan Mercier led all players with three goals and three assists. Fellow senior Andrew Miller recorded five points, coming from three goals and a pair of assists, as Joey Pipesh also finished with a three goal, two assist stat line. 

Freshmen Luke Schuemann (two goals, two assists), Jack Holway (four goals) and TJ Antonio (one goal, one assist) also had tremendous offensive performances. 

Connor Laidlaw was stellar at the faceoff X, winning 25 of 33 faceoffs and picking up a career-best 16 ground balls. With five turnovers, Carter Kildea led all players with five caused turnovers. 

In goal, Caleb Howell earned the win in 30 minutes of action. Albions four goalies – Howell, Jack Erickson, Luke Szymanski and Danny Moore combined for five saves. 

The Britons outshot Alma 76-14. The hosts wear also near-perfect on the clear, converting 20 of 21.

Next Saturday, Albion heads to Calvin for a 1 p.m. game.
