Albion Athletics announces staff restructure

Albion College Director of Athletics, Jennifer Rushton, is excited to announce a staff restructure within the department.

Andy Lawrence will shift from Head Athletic Trainer to Associate Athletic Director. Lawrence has spent the last 12 years as the Head Athletic Trainer at Albion. He will oversee the athletic training staff, strength and conditioning, game management and have direct supervision of several sports.

"I am thrilled that Andy agreed to step into the Associate AD role," said Rushton. "Andy has proven himself as a leader in our department and on campus. He is a strategic thinker and has an unbelievable work ethic. He will continue to be an asset to our coaches and student-athletes. I am extremely excited to work with Andy in this new role."

Adrian Sanchez will rejoin Albion's staff as the Assistant Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer. Sanchez was a Staff Athletic Trainer under Lawrence's leadership from 2019-22. Coming off two years at nearby Mason High School, Sanchez will begin his tenure on June 2.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Adrian back to Albion College to oversee the Athletic Training Room," said Lawrence. "We strive to provide high-quality healthcare to our student-athletes but also be mentors in all areas of their lives. Adrian brings both of those attributes to the staff and he will step in to lead an already stellar staff.

Adrian has extensive experience with USA weightlifting which you can read about here.

Previous Associate AD, Eric Scott, has moved into a full-time role with Institutional Advancement. Now the Director of Athletics Philanthropy, Scott will serve as the primary fundraiser for the Athletic Department.

"Eric's experience with Albion Athletics as a student-athlete and a coach makes him the perfect fit to serve as our primary fundraiser," added Rushton. "It is exciting to have our staff in positions that support their strengths and that give us the best opportunities to achieve the highest levels of success as a department."
