Britons Start 2-0 For First Time Since 2018 With Blanking of UM-Dearborn

ALBION, Mich. -- The Albion women's soccer team's offense kept rolling.

After an eight-goal barrage to open their season against Bluffton on August 29, the Britons piled on five scores as they blanked UM-Dearborn, 5-0, on a beautiful, sunny afternoon at Alumni Field.

It is also the first time Albion has started a season 2-0 since 2018.

It did not take long for the Briton attack to click, as Kelsi Green connected on a breakaway pass from Chloe Salo to put them up, 1-0.

Eight minutes later, Diane Hurtado scored her first collegiate goal off a rebound from a Green shot to give Albion a 2-0 advantage.

Albion tacked on one more goal in the half on a corner kick pass from Bella Fabrizio that dribbled in front of the net and was eventually capitalized on by Claire Gorno.

Green added her second goal of the match three minutes into the second half. The sophomore kicked the ball into the net backwards off her heel after a short pass from Hurtado that was courtesy of a Hohlbein corner feed.

Senior Zoe Moretti celebrated with her arms outstretched and hugs from her teammates as she earned her first collegiate goal on a breakaway in the 71st minute to wrap up the scoring for the Britons.

Albion outshot the Wolverines, 26-9, and had 10 corner kick opportunities. Maddie Welsh earned the victory in net after starting the first half, and 19 subs saw time for the Britons.
