ADA, Ohio -- The Albion College volleyball team started the 46th annual Ohio Northern University Invitational on the right foot on Friday afternoon with a pair of wins over Bluffton University and The College of Wooster.
The victories extended the Britons' win streak to five consecutive matches, their longest streak since 2023.
Match One - Albion 3, Bluffton 1 (26-28, 25-11, 25-16, 25-17)
The Britons clashed with the Beavers of Bluffton to open the weekend. After dropping a topsy-turvy opening set, Albion came alive to roar past Bluffton. Albion bounced back from the opener with a 25-11 win in the second frame before taking the third set, 25-16.
The Britons swung at a .351 clip during the third stanza to take a two-sets-to-one lead. In the final set, the Britons used an 8-0 run in the middle of the frame to race out to an 18-10 lead.
Kayda Herrick buoyed the run with three consecutive service aces. Kills from
Margaret Jones and Herrick made it 24-16, before Herrick buried a kill off a feed from
Molly Edmunds to seal the set and match.
Herrick finished with 12 kills, 10 digs, and a match-high five aces for her fifth double-double of the season.
Carly Frank paced Albion's attack with 18 kills while hitting a stellar .421. Jones chipped in 12 kills and four blocks while swinging at a rate of .417.
Molly Edmunds posted a double-double with 38 assists and 12 digs. On the defensive side of the net,
Paige Williamson tallied a team-high 14 digs, while
Camille Oxley finished with 13.
Match Two - Albion 3, Wooster 0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-11)
In the second match of the afternoon, the Britons dispatched the Fighting Scots in a straight-sets sweep, their fourth sweep of the campaign.
Albion hit a season-best .380 to down Wooster, highlighted by a blistering .619 clip in the third set. Frank led the charge for the Brits once again with 16 kills. With the match-leading performance, Frank has now reached double-digit kills in all 11 of Albion's matches.
Bri Whitfield, Jones, and Herrick finished with six kills apiece to help round out Albion's attack. Edmunds totaled a match-best 35 assists, while Williamson tallied a match-high 10 digs. Oxley and Williamson each added four aces to finish tied for the match lead.
