ALBION, MI -- The Britons celebrated senior day in fine fashion on Saturday afternoon, as the Albion College women's soccer team downed Earlham College, 3-1.
The Britons (3-1) fired on all cylinders at Alumni Field to fly past the Quakers (1-3). Albion peppered Earlham with 11 shots on target, compared to just four for the visitors. The Britons also held a dominant edge in corners, 9-2.
Albion did all of its damage in the first half, as
Chloe Salo continued the stellar start to her collegiate career with the game's first goal just six minutes off an assist from
Mia Czarnowski.
The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, native doubled Albion's advantage six minutes later.
Micaela Hohlbein and
Brook Zeleny combined for a nifty pair of passes down the left side that fed Salo in front of the goal. The first-year talent made no mistake and buried the ball past Earlham's Liz Godfrey.
Claire Gorno officially put the game out of reach in the 24 minute with her fourth goal of the campaign off a pass from
Diane Hurtado. The Britons forced four saves from Earlham in the second half, but the Quakers managed to keep Albion at bay to give the game its final scoreline.
Maddie Welsh and
Marleigh Chapman split the game in goal for Albion and combined for three saves and the shutout.
Bella Fabrizio logged a team-high 70 minutes on the back line to help blank the Quakers.
