Olivet, Mich. - The Albion Men's Soccer team picked up a 4-0 victory over the Comets. The Brits return to the pitch on Tuesday October 13th as they host the Knights of Calvin at 7PM.
Angel Benki led the team with two goals, while
Ivan Murillo led the team with three shots.
Tom Veresh also recorded seven saves for the Brits.
The Brits would get things going quickly as Robin Ruijendijk would find
Christian Orpineda to go up 1-0 just six minutes into play. The Brits would continue their offensive pressure before
Binck-Jan Bakker would find
Jasek Zielaskowski for their second goal in the 33rd minute. The Brits would not settle for a 2-0 lead at half as
Ryan Anderson would find
Angel Benki in the 41st minute to give the Brits a 3-0 lead heading into the half. The Comets would have opportunities during the first half to close the gap, with all five of their shots being on goal in the first half. The Brits would still outshoot the Comets 8-5 in the opening period and head into half with a 3-0 lead.
The second half would be a battle for both teams with the Brits taking three shots and the Comets two in the 20 minutes of play in the second half. Benki would find the goal for the second time after a pass from
Lidetu Eyssen would set him up. The Brits would have a commanding 4-0 lead with 11 minutes left to play. The Brits defense would hold strong as they would not give up another shot attempt until the final 30 seconds, the Comets would get two last second shots but both would miss the goal and give the Brits the 4-0 victory.
