Men's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener to Rhodes in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A strong second half by Rhodes hurt the Albion men's lacrosse team, dropping a neutral-site contest, 18-8, in the Music City Classic at The Ensworth School.

Rhodes outshot Albion 51-34 and held a 35-22 edge in shots on goal, steadily pulling away behind a 47-24 advantage in ground balls and a 21-9 margin in faceoffs.

Albion's offense was led by Cal Stearns, who scored four goals and added one assist, while Luke Schuemann netted two goals and one assist. Logan Mozingo and Joey Pipesh each chipped in one goal for the Britons. Stearns fired 13 shots with 10 on target, and Schuemann added nine shots and six shots on goal as the pair drove much of Albion's attack.

Rhodes finished with 12 assists on its 18 goals, showcasing crisp ball movement, and capitalized on its lone extra-man conversion by going 1-for-2, while holding Albion to 0-for-1. The Lynx also forced Albion into 21 turnovers and limited extended Briton possessions by winning the ground ball battle and clearing the ball at a 17-for-20 clip compared to Albion's 19-for-28.

Defensively, Connor Laidlaw and Schuemann paced Albion with five ground balls apiece, while Ben Schollett recorded a team-high two caused turnovers. In goal, Luke Szymanski made 14 saves and Caleb Howell added three, combining for 17 stops under heavy pressure.
