FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — Three Albion men's wrestlers were named to the All-MIAA team on Tuesday.
Austin Matheney (149),
Jayden Lewis (157) and
Owen Turnbow (184) all made their first career appearances on the list for the Britons, who finished second in the MIAA with a 3-1 record in dual meets. They came within one point of beating Olivet for the conference crown back on February 5.
Each wrestler went 4-0 against MIAA competition in the dual meets against conference schools.
Matheney owns a 12-4 overall record on the year. The senior has four victories coming via tech fall (when a wrestler gains a 15-point lead in a match) as well.
Lewis has had a breakout campaign as a freshman, posting an 18-8 record with a team-high nine pins.
Turnbow owns a 24-7 record, which is best on the team. The junior has also earned 269 points during matches and nine major decisions (winning a match by 8-14 points), both of which are team bests.
The Britons will head to Adrian for their final regular season competition at the Adrian Futures Tournament on Saturday, February 21 before NCAA Regionals at John Carroll from February 27-28.
