BLUFFTON, Ohio — The Albion softball team was swept by Bluffton on Tuesday afternoon. Bluffton won the first game by a 10-2 margin before a 6-2 victory in the second game.
Game 1
Albion struggled both defensively and at the plate, unable to contain Bluffton's offense while also failing to generate consistent hitting. The Britons managed just three hits and struck out seven times.
In the top of the first, Jessie Anstandig provided an early spark with a towering home run—the first of the Britons' season. Bluffton quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning with a three-run homer of their own to take a 3–1 lead.
Kaitlyn Ruselink added an RBI in the top of the fifth, accounting for Albion's second and final run. Bluffton sealed the game in the bottom of the sixth with a five-run inning, securing the victory in six innings.
Game 2
Game two was more competitive, but Bluffton still secured a 6–2 victory. Albion recorded five hits, with Kayla Cole driving in the team's lone RBI.
Bluffton set the tone early, scoring five runs in the first inning to take a 5–0 lead. Albion responded in the top of the fourth when Kaitlyn Ruselink used her speed on the bases to score on a wild pitch. In the fifth, Cole delivered a sacrifice RBI to bring home Emma Schramm.
Despite the late push, the Britons were unable to generate any further offense, and Bluffton held on for the win.
