ALBION, Mich. — Albion baseball took the first of a three-game series against Calvin with a 9-3 victory.
Daniel Bruzdewicz started for the Britons, pitching six innings and racking up 11 strikeouts. Evan Schuster scored in the first inning on a passed ball, but Calvin answered with three runs in the top of the second after putting a pair of runners on base. The Knights failed to score for the remainder of the game.
Gavin White and Carter Stahl each doubled in the third to tie the game. Scoring remained silent until the seventh, when Schuster ignited the offense with a single to left. White followed shortly after with a bases-clearing triple that brought in three runs, and Stahl added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead.
Schuster doubled in the eighth to drive in the final run of the day. Miles Frank pitched the final three innings, striking out three to secure the win for Albion.
